How Our Programmes Support Our Mission

Niger Delta Innovate is a nonprofit organisation. Our programmes are designed to expand access to technology education, practical skills and innovation opportunities for young people, educators and communities across the Niger Delta.

Where NDI provides paid institutional training, curriculum development or other professional services, these activities are mission-aligned and support the organisation's broader technology education and community-impact work.

OUR PROGRAMMES

OUR PROGRAMMES

Seven programmes. One mission: equipping Niger Delta

youth with the technology education and skills to

build careers and futures.

Digital Technology — Classroom Instruction (JSS1–SS3)

NDI delivers structured Digital Technology instruction in partner secondary schools, following the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) curriculum from Junior Secondary School 1 through Senior Secondary School 3.

Our instructors work within the school timetable, alongside the school's own staff, to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality Digital Technology lessons every week. This is not a workshop. It is a full, sustained academic programme — the same quality of instruction, every term.

WHAT STUDENTS COVER

  • Introduction to computing and digital devices

  • Office productivity and digital literacy

  • Internet safety, cybersecurity basics, and responsible digital citizenship

  • Programming fundamentals

  • Data and information management

  • SS-level: ICT in business, networking, and multimedia production

Technovation — Robotics, Coding, Web Design, Data Science and AI/ML

Technovation is NDI's advanced technology programme for students who are ready to go further. It takes students beyond the standard curriculum into the hands-on, competitive, career-relevant world of modern technology.

Students who complete Technovation have built robots, written code, designed websites, worked with data, and — in some cases — competed at state and national level. NDI established the first robotics laboratory in any secondary school in Rivers State at Okrika Grammar School.

WHAT TECHNOVATION COVERS

  • Robotics — build, programme, and compete with real robots

  • Coding — Python, Scratch, and applied programming for real problems

  • Web Design — HTML, CSS, and the principles of building websites

  • Data Science — understanding, collecting, and visualising data

  • AI and Machine Learning — introductory AI/ML concepts and practical applications

Mobile phones are everywhere in Nigeria. Demand for skilled GSM repair technicians far exceeds supply. NDI's GSM Repair Training programme provides hands-on, practical training in diagnosing and repairing mobile phones — creating a direct pathway to self-employment or employment within weeks of completing the programme.

The programme equips young people with practical technical skills that can support employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

No prior technical knowledge is required. Graduates leave with the skills, confidence, and practical experience to start earning immediately.

WHAT THE PROGRAMME COVERS

  • Phone anatomy, components, and tools

  • Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting methodology

  • Hardware repair: screens, batteries, charging ports, motherboards

  • Software repair: flashing, factory resets, software faults

  • Customer service and pricing for repair businesses
